This project in Graphic Design Studio 2 was titled “Limited Edition LP Record Box Set.” For this particular project, I chose to create my box set for the folk singer Noah Kahan. This project allowed me to research more into Kahan and think creatively about how I could represent him through an extremely limited edition box set (a hypothetical under 100 copies of the set produced) that could retail between $100-$500. Noah Kahan has previously described his album “Stick Season” as a story, as two more variations of the album were released after the initial, first "We'll All Be Here Forever", and the final album “chapter" “Forever.” With this information, I designed the box to look like a novel, with the top of the box being the cover, the sides representing the spine and pages, and the back holding the packing label on the synopsis of the album and its creation as the back cover. Kahan is from Vermont and uses it as an influence in his music. My main gift and experience of the box was two tickets to visit Vermont with an itinerary created by Kahan himself. Other gifts highlighting his Vermont roots included Noah Kahan Ben and Jerry’s and Maple Syrup. In this project, I had to think deeply about how I could communicate Noah Kahan through a box set, and I believe my approach was creative and something his design team would use. The intended audience for this box set are the super fans of Noah Kahan, known as the listeners and supporters who have listened to Noah from the first small EPs he released in his underground music years. The color palette, as well as the typeset choices, followed in the branding of Noah Kahan, a very fall-like woodsy aesthetic. This is why the darker, monochromatic green tones, with accents of brown, grey, and other earthy green tones expressed the emotions of the box set effectively.
